About GMV Goats Mini Rex Heritage Rabbits Angoras Information Sales
We built this structure onto the side of an existing outbuilding. Llamas love to see out so we made sure we provided plenty of view out onto the pasture. The area is 12x8' with the right wall only being 8' deep providing an open patio atmosphere. Notice the ventilation space at the tops of the walls. There are also drip irrigation sprayers set up for summer heat along the front of the roof. There is a mineral feeder in the left rear by the manger. We provide fresh water and minerals at each pen - even if they are only feet apart, so there is never any competition to get to them. There is a bucket hook on the right front 4x4 where we usually have a big bucket of fresh water. But, it's freezing now and that bucket split the other night (no bucket heater in that one). We ran Christmas tube lighting along the rafters to give us light at night. A timer turns them on at dusk and off late in the evening after I'm sure to be done with chores. The goats sleep in the right rear corner. We provide straw bales to enclose that area a bit during windy weather. Our llama sleeps in the front left with her head just sticking out from under the roof. The rabbitry and llama chute are off to the right of the llama condo.
The manger in the llama condo. The lower half is for goats and the top is left open for Cassie to eat out of. And, she has her feed bucket for the occasional treat for a hard day's work watching goats. I think the adjoining room was once a horse stall - therefore the window. That makes a handy place for loading hay through from inside - sometimes the weather is just too nasty to walk around the building in the rain with it.
